Position Summary

The Document Shredding Supervisor oversees daily secure document destruction operations, ensuring confidential materials are collected, handled, shredded, and prepared for recycling or disposal in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable privacy and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily shredding operations, including document collection, sorting, secure destruction, baling, recycling, and waste handling.
  • Lead, train, schedule, and support team members to maintain safe, efficient, and customer-focused service.
  • Operate, inspect, and coordinate routine maintenance for shredding equipment, carts, bins, and related tools.
  • Ensure confidential documents are handled securely from pickup through destruction and that all security procedures are followed.
  • Monitor workflow, route activity, and production priorities to meet customer service expectations and internal deadlines.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area and enforce safety practices for lifting, equipment use, and material handling.
  • Communicate with management regarding staffing, customer concerns, equipment needs, irregularities, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Follow document shredding supervisor instructions/rules
  • Communicate with jobseeker parents and supervisors on any changes
  • Communicate with jobseeker parents of closings
  • Respond to any email inquiries regarding shredding
  • Stipends, handout stipends at beginning of month
  • Keep track of supplies for shredding room- oil and bags –Order more through Seidy Amaya, Program Manager

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; supervisory, warehouse, route service, recycling, production, or secure document handling experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, information security, and professional handling of sensitive customer materials.
  • Ability to supervise a small team, communicate clearly, solve problems, and follow through on daily operational priorities.
  • Comfortable operating shredding and warehouse equipment and following equipment safety procedures.
  • Basic recordkeeping, and computer or mobile device skills.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required if the role includes route support, customer pickups, or vehicle operation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, and stand or walk for extended periods during the workday. Up to 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to move carts, bins, boxes, and bags of documents safely and repeatedly.

Schedule and Location

This position is located at 3040 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville MI 49418. Schedule may include weekday daytime hours from 8:45-2 PM on Monday and Tuesday and be willing to fill in weekdays as necessary as a substitute, with occasional flexibility required based on customer service needs, route schedules, or operational demands.
