Meet Dirk: Father, Advocate, Community Builder
As Executive Director of Beyond26 and father to Will — a young man with Down syndrome — Dirk knows firsthand the joy and challenges of supporting individuals with disabilities.
After adopting Will from Hong Kong, Dirk founded Beyond26 to bridge the gap between enthusiastic jobseekers and employers looking for dedicated team members. Today, we’ve helped 270+ individuals find meaningful employment while building stronger workplace communities across West Michigan.

Common Questions
Q: What types of jobs work well?
A: Our jobseekers excel in office support, retail, food service, custodial work, and customer service. We match people based on their interests and abilities.
Q: What support do you provide?
A: We provide job coaching, regular check-ins, and help solving any challenges. We’re here to make sure everyone succeeds.
Q: How long does it take?
A: Usually 2-4 weeks from our first conversation to when someone starts work. We focus on making good matches.
Q: What about document shredding?
A: We provide secure document pickup and destruction for a suggested donation of $20 per box. All work done by our trained team members. Document shredding is a complimentary service provided for our business sponsors.
